An interesting note about Sita however is that it is because of her that the entire conflict began.

The Demon Kind Ravana wanted Sita for himself so he lured Rama away from their forest hermitage to which Rama was banished for a time after having been denied the throne he had every right too and his brother who was named king even said this but Rama refused and went to live in the forest. Having been lured away for a time his brother went to look for him but drew a circle of salt around the house where they lived with Sita and told her she was safe while inside and not to leave the circle. Ravana appeared disguised as a Sadhu and tricked her into leaving the circle which he could not enter because Lakshmi had enchanted it.

However this also show's Sita's compassion as well as grace. It is a great dishonor to refuse alm's to a wandering Sadhu and frowned upon by the people of India. One should give hospitality to visitors especially holy men and she was kidnapped because she was decieved by the Demon King.
