Magick and Psi - The Differences

Before I say anything else, let me say this, there is no difference between magick and psionics. They incapsulate the same thing and blur into each other often in magickal systems (traditions).

Magick as it's commonly practiced though deals more with indirect influence over the outside and or inside world. A sigil is created and launched, a diety is contacted and made known ones desire, a spell is uttered to the winds, a poppet is made and charged with desire, ect.

In essence, the practice of magick is usually about taking a desire and making it known to the subconcious mind (or however one sees the plane of reality where magick is launched) via a method of altering ones concious state, then returning back to normal conciousness, and then waiting for the desire to manifest over a period of hours, days, weeks, months, years, or whatever. This is indirect magick.

In essence, the practice of psionics is usually about taking a desire, making it known to the subconcious mind via a method of altering ones concious state, and affecting reality in real time. This is direct magick.

As I said though the concepts and practices of magick and psionics are blured, and this just seems to be the common definition of the two. They are the same thing, which is causing change according to will, via normally inaccessable types of doing so in normal human conciousness.

I imagine most of you already known this, but incase anyone was unsure or wondering, I thought I would attempt to clairfy from what I believe is the common understanding.

I don't know about others but I certainly perceive the practice of psionics and magick in the same way, meaning direct and indirect magick(causing of change).

ChaosTech, thanks for the clarification. I agree wholeheartedly with your post, and like Kain I also have viewed this dichotomy of direct vs. indirect magick in the same way (though you've managed to articulate it better than I have so far). I'm finding my rituals to be much more powerful now that I've developed energy sensing, intaking, and manipulation, and conversely I find that I am able to, say, move my psiwheel much more easily or have more precognitive experiences as a result of ritual. (By no coincidence, I can move my psiwheel with virtually no effort immediately after a meditation session or ceremony.)

Psionics is much more of a science nowadays, though it has always been part and parcel of magick, but now that psionics is its own separate, developing science, I think it's really a great time and opportunity to be able to take it and really run with it. There are some cool psions doing cool things and discovering new tools, and these, I think, can be utmost useful to anyone in any spiritual path.

Namaste,
Genostar

well ive seen magick and psionics as such as well. ive also become stronger than i would have either thought as i was already strong as it is. plus i dont ground anymore and i enjoy the energy i have in my body as it circulates inside me when i want to use it.

with this i am somehow changed than i was before. well when i use magick sometimes, which is mostly elemental magick, seems just like psionics to me. so even though i would say psionics is just like magick in a way it is still different and such.
